New Bodywork Offering at Grand
Alexander Friend
We have another new(ish) bodywork practitioner joining our Grand Ave. clinic. Alexander Friend will be offering Tui Na, CarnioSacral, and Reiki on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting August 1st. Alexander used to work out of our Laurel Clinic a number of years ago and we are happy to welcome him back to OAP. You can also find out more about Alexander’s massage practice and small batch tea business by visiting his Niuka Tea website or by following him on instagram @niukatea. You can book with Alexander through schedulicity.
Deirdre Hormel
Our other new bodywork practitioner, Deirdre is offering free mini demo sessions of Trager and CranioSacral Therapy when she has availability in between regularly scheduled clients. If you are at the Grand Ave. Clinic on Tuesdays for acupuncture, and you see her sign (below) on the payment station, check in with her to see if she can fit you in for a demo (must not interfere with your previously scheduled acupuncture appointment).
Lots of Bodywork at OAP
We now have 5 bodywork practitioners working out of our two clinics, check out our Massage Practitioner Page for even more information on what each practitioner has to offer. You can book with Alexander, Min, and Deirdre through our online scheduler, schedulicity. Book with Rebeca at AlchemyHealing.net, and Amy at ReposeBodyTherapy.com.
How Much Acupuncture Should I Get?
If you are concerned about how often you should come in for acupuncture to address your issues, feel free to check in with us; we’re always happy to give recommendations for treatment frequency. In the meantime, we have a couple helpful blogs on the subject. Check out this Infographic and this blog on Acupuncture Frequency. And remember, there’s no such thing as too much acupuncture, so if you want to come in even more than suggested to take a relaxing acu-nap, go for it!
Point of the Month!
Urinary Bladder 66 - The Chinese name for Urinary Bladder 66 is Zu Tong Gu , which translates to Valley Passage. As the water point on the water meridian it has a powerfully cooling effect. It can be used to treat bladder issues like UTI’s or BPH, but can also be cooling to our metaphysical vision of life through the channel's connection to the head, brain, and eyes. For more information on the wonderful cooling nature of this point, check out Jeff’s Blog Post.
