Oakland Acupuncture Project: New Scheduling Software Coming Soon!
New Scheduling Software Coming Soon!
We will be changing to a new scheduling software over the next month as our current scheduler, Scheduilicity, was acquired by another scheduler, Vargo. Please stay tuned for more information coming soon. We know that change can be hard but we are working behind the scenes to make this transition as smooth as possible.
SAP Is Hiring!
Sacramento Acupuncture Project (our sister clinic) is currently looking to add a new substitute acupuncturist to its roster at our busy clinics to cover a maternity leave from May 17th, 2025 to Sept. 14th, 2025. We are ready to train and hire someone beginning now. We are looking for someone who wants to pursue a career in community acupuncture specifically and subscribes to a value system built on making a positive impact with acupuncture on the local community.
If you or anyone you know is a licensed acupuncturist who fits this bill, please check out our Job Posting for more information on what we are looking for, who we are, and how to apply.
POCA Member Special Coming Soon
POCA (People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture) envisions a world in which every community has access to local, affordable acupuncture to reduce our collective and individual suffering and to nurture resilience. This May, all POCA community members are eligible to receive one free follow up treatment. Not a member yet? Become one at pocacoop.com. It's just $25 to join, and members also receive a free treatment on their birthday. Your support helps the growth and success of community acupuncture providers and clinics far and wide.
Point of the Month!
The Chinese name for Small Intestine 5 is Yang Gu, which translates to Yang Valley. This point is a fire point on a fire channel so it’s no surprise that it is a champion at regulating heat. You can think of it as a sunny and warm valley on a summer day. As this point is on the small intestine channel it is especially good at sorting the clear from the turbid, which can be thought of in both a physical or spiritual context. Check out Jeff’s Blog to see why he likes to use this point for back pain, inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and mental clarity.
Community Acupuncture Megalist
Our friends at West Philly Community Acupuncture put together a list and a map of all the community acupuncture around the whole United States. It’s pretty impressive! If you’re ever traveling and want to keep your treatments consistent, or you have a family member you want to send to a local community clinic, check out the list on their website.
