Oakland Acupuncture Project: Open MLK Jr. Day and Receipts at OAP
Open MLK Jr. Day, Monday, January 20th
We often get busy on federal holidays so Book Soon!
Happy Lunar New Year!
Both clinics will be open our normal hours Wednesday, January 29th.
As we usher in the Year of the Yin Wood Snake, also known as the little dragon, we enter a time rich with symbolism and potential for transformation. In the Chinese Zodiac, the snake represents metamorphosis, wisdom, intuition, introspection, mystery, and intelligence—qualities that encourage us to embrace change and growth. In five-element theory, wood embodies flexibility, growth, tolerance, and creativity, while yin energy speaks to passiveness, stillness, and contraction.
This combination suggests that the year ahead may be one of deep reflection and personal evolution. It's a time to stay flexible like a green bamboo snake when facing challenges, using your intuition to guide your path. It’s also a powerful moment to shed what no longer serves you, creating space for new possibilities.
For a deeper dive into the Chinese Zodiac and what this year might have in store, check out Dawn’s Latest Blog Post.
Wishing you a year of wisdom, growth, and transformation!
Point of the Month!
The point of the month is Luo Zhen, which is translated to either “Dropped Pillow” or “Stiff Neck”. Check out Jeff’s Latest Blog Post where he discusses how this wonderful extra point connects to stress, neck pain, and the Shao Yang meridian.

Receipts at OAP
We often get an influx of receipt requests this time of year for FSA/HSA submission, taxes, etc. If you need receipts for acupuncture, please take a minute to review our policies below:
General Receipts - For cash and check payments you can make do-it-yourself receipts at our payment station with the receipt pad and stamp. For credit card payments you should receive an email receipt with each payment. You can also request a cumulative or itemized receipt twice a year if the above receipts do not meet your needs. Please note that we do not keep track of individual cash and check payment amounts, only that a payment was made in our sliding scale. If you plan on requesting receipts in the future, and are not purchasing packages or paying by credit card, please keep note of your individual payment amounts. Please send any receipt requests to oaklandacu@gmail.com and we will get to them as soon as we are able.
HSA/FSA Accounts - Acupuncture is an approved medical expense. Click Here for more information on how to use these accounts at OAP.
Insurance - We do not do any insurance billing, but you can request a super bill twice a year if you have out of network acupuncture coverage. For more information on this please Click Here and scroll down to the Insurance section.
